SUSIE SKELETON’S SUNFLOWER DANCE
A happy skeleton named Susie
clickety-clacked through a sunny field
of wildflowers on Halloween afternoon.
“Time for a sip and a splash!” she whispered.
Tipping her little blue watering can,
she gave each flower a drink as she danced.
The daisies swayed.
The marigolds wiggled.
And the sunflowers twirled toward the sun.
Susie did a silly spin,
then a wobbly wiggle,
and turned on her tiptoes.
She spun so fast that she almost lost her skull.
“Oopsy-daisy!” She laughed and popped it back
on her neck with a smile.
The flowers giggled at silly Susie.
She loved to make them laugh.
All around her, the bees bopped.
The butterflies did a graceful ballet.
And the birds boogalooed through the air.
When the watering can was empty,
Susie did a final skeleton-esque arabesque,
and plopped down gently on a soft patch of grass.
“Thank you for the splishy-splashy sips,” said the sunflowers.
The daisies sang in chorus, “Our dancing lessons were delightful.”
And the Mexican marigolds burbled, “Muchos gracias, amiga.”
Susie gave a happy rattle and said,
“Same time tomorrow, little friends!”
And off she skipped, her bones clickity-clacking
as she shimmied and shook through the meadow.
